Meet Katie

I am a masters-trained counsellor and consultant with extensive experience working in crisis, domestic and family violence, and trauma-exposed contexts. My work is grounded in evidence-based practice and informed by years of supporting people and systems operating under sustained pressure, complexity, and responsibility.

Alongside this, I work with high-functioning adults who appear to be coping well on the surface but are aware there is deeper work to do. Be it for themselves, in their relationships, and in how they show up at work. Communication in all its forms sits at the centre of this work, whether that is understanding internal patterns, navigating difficult conversations, or shifting long-standing relational dynamics that no longer serve.

My approach

My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and evidence-based, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR where appropriate. I work in a way that is calm, direct, and collaborative, with a strong focus on practical insight and real-world application.

This is not about pathologising capable people or over-simplifying complex systems. It is about creating clarity, building psychological safety, and supporting change that is sustainable rather than performative.

Who I work with

I work extensively with people and organisations operating in high-pressure, trauma-exposed environments. This includes many years of direct work alongside first responders, including emergency and frontline services, where exposure to critical incidents, cumulative stress, and operational demands is part of everyday work.

This experience informs how I approach both counselling and consulting. I understand the realities of shift work, operational decision-making, chain of command, and the personal cost of performing in roles where responsibility is high and mistakes carry real consequences.

Alongside this, I work with professionals in a range of sectors who recognise similar patterns of pressure, responsibility, and impact in their own lives and workplaces.

COUNSELLING

In individual counselling, this work often supports adults who are thoughtful, capable, and carrying significant responsibility, both professionally and personally. Many are navigating the impact of trauma, cumulative stress, or long-standing relational patterns, and are seeking support that respects their intelligence, autonomy, and lived experience.

CONSULTING

In consulting, I work with organisations where the stakes are high and the work is fast-paced. My focus is on leadership rather than management; supporting clear communication, sound decision-making, and psychologically safe cultures in environments where the work is demanding and the consequences of getting it wrong matter. The aim is practical, tested interventions that support strong leadership, engaged staff, and cultures that can sustain important work over time.
